There’s something particularly appealing about an autumn wedding in London. Autumn brings a different atmosphere to a wedding day, with changing colours, softer light and a richer seasonal palette providing plenty of inspiration for your celebration.
If you’re considering an autumn wedding in 2026 or 2027, Gray’s Inn can help you make the most of the season.
A Wedding Day Made for the Season
Autumn naturally lends itself to a wedding with a little more focus on the interiors. At Gray’s Inn, The Hall provides a striking setting for ceremonies of up to 180 guests, wedding breakfasts and evening celebrations, while the Large Pension Room offers a more intimate option for smaller gatherings of up to 60 guests.
The changing season can also influence the way you style the spaces. Candlelight, seasonal flowers, foliage and deeper tones can all work particularly well against the character of Gray’s Inn’s historic interiors, without needing to turn your wedding into a themed autumn celebration. You can keep these decorations as traditional or contemporary as you like.
Choosing Your Spaces
One of the things to consider when planning an autumn wedding is how you want the different parts of your day to flow.
With exclusive hire of the Domus Building, you can use different spaces for different moments. For example, your ceremony could take place in The Hall before moving to the Large Pension Room for drinks and cake cutting, with guests returning to The Hall for dinner and the evening reception.
For a smaller celebration, the first floor of the Domus Building provides The Large Pension Room, The Landing and the Benchers’ Library, giving you separate spaces for the ceremony, drinks reception and quieter moments throughout the day.
Having this flexibility is particularly useful for autumn weddings, when you may want to keep your plans adaptable depending on the weather.
Prefer an Outdoor Wedding?
For couples who want to be outdoors on their wedding day, The Walks offer five acres of private gardens in the heart of London. Outdoor ceremonies are available at Gray’s Inn between May and October, meaning that couples can still have a romantic garden wedding during the autumn months.
The gardens can also provide a setting for drinks receptions and wedding photographs, before the celebrations continue inside.
Food for an Autumn Celebration
Our catering partner, Searcys, focuses on using fresh and seasonal ingredients when crafting the menus for our events, meaning that the season will naturally be incorporated into your special day. As well as this, the menu tasting that is part of your package gives you the opportunity to explore your food and drink options and decide what works best for your wedding.
Whether you want a formal wedding breakfast or a more relaxed approach to dining, the menu can be tailored to your needs.
